HBO Announces New Series ‘Get Millie Black’ For This November

HBO has announced a new original series featuring the suspense of detective work alongside a hardened protagonist trying their best in the profession. The limited series Get Millie Black will premiere on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET/ 10:00 p.m. PT on HBO with five episodes. 

According to the press release, the series logline promises the following: “Ex-Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black returns to Kingston to work missing persons cases, soon finding herself on a quest to save a sibling who won’t be saved, to find a child who can’t be found, to solve a case that will blow her world apart and prove almost as tough to crack as Millie Black.”

The cast will include the talents of Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins), Gershwyn Eustache (I Am Maria, Joan), Tamara Lawrence (The Silent Twins, Time) and Chyna McQueen (Get Millie Black) via the press release. The specific roles each actor and actress will be starring it has yet to be announced.

According to the press release, Marlon James (The Book of Night Women, Making the Trees Shiver), a Booker Prize winning author, is the creative mind behind the series. James will also executive produce alongside Simon Maxwell (Deep State, Odyssey), Jami O’Brien (Industry, Flesh and Bone) and Leopoldo Gout (The Chosen One, Carlos). Co-executive producer and lead director for Get Millie Black is Tanya Hamilton (Night Catches Us, The Chi).

Also featured as a director for one episode of the series is Jean Luc Herbulot (Saloum, Dealer) via the press release. Annetta Laufer (Afro Punk Girl, Scarlet) has directed two episodes for the series. Writers for Get Millie Black include Theresa Ikoko (Rocks, Grime Kids), Joshua St. Johnston (Sweeney Todd, The Enfield Haunting) and Lydia Adetunji (Noughts + Crosses, Riviera).

Get Millie Black is produced by both HBO and Channel 4 through Motive Pictures. As so, the series will be available to watch on HBO, Max and Channel 4 next year.
