HBO announces March 27 streaming debut for original series ‘Privilèges’

In a press release from Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO announced a new arrival to its streaming service HBO Max. French HBO Original series Privilèges is scheduled to release Friday, March 27 on the streaming platform.

The series is up for the French Series category at this year’s Séries Mania festival after being selected for the official competition. Among five other new French series having their world premiere, Privilèges is scheduled to screen at Séries Mania on March 23 and 26, via the festival’s website.

As detailed in Warner Bros. Discovery’s press release, Privilegès takes place in the sumptuous Citadel which is not as pearly as it seems – As part of an early-release program, young inmate Adèle Charki (Manon Bresch; Mortel, Wingwomen), begins working as a bellhop under the hotel’s despotic director Édouard Galzain (Melvil Poupaud; Jeanne du Barry, One Fine Morning). From her first day on the job, Adèle is exposed to the true nature of ambition and power among guests and staff alike. While fighting for redemption and survival in this cutthroat environment, Adèle must also navigate her changing relationship with Édouard as it transforms into something far more sinister than she could have ever imagined.

Via Warner Bros. Discovery, Privilèges is the product of Vladimir de Fontenay (Mobile Homes, Toys: Golden Line) and Marie Monge (Treat Me Like Fire, Marseille by Night), who directed, wrote and created the series. This is their second collaboration together after the 2020 Netflix series Vampires, during which they directed (separately) the first six episodes of its first season. The series is a supernatural horror which revolves around a Parisian half human, half vampire teenager as she tangles with both the earthly and supernatural worlds.

Warner Bros. Discovery also reported that Privilèges is produced by Hugo Gélin (Just Like Brothers, Mon Inconnue/Love at Second Sight) of Zazi Séries, a Parisian-based film and series production company.
