HBO Announces ‘Insecure’ Season 5 Will Be Final Season

HBO’s original series Insecure will be wrapping up it’s story in season five, according to the HBO press release earlier today.  Executive Vice President Amy Gravitt released a statement regarding the success of the show and its actors. “Issa has turned insecurity into an iconic form of comedy,” said Gravitt via the press release. “The show is as incisive as it is heartfelt, and it has resonated strongly with its audience because of the deeply personal work that Issa, Prentice, Melina, the cast and the writers have put into it,” Gravitt stated according to the press release.

Insecure is an Emmy award winning show intermixed with drama and comedy in every episode. One of the main reasons the show is so successful is due to its relatable content. The main protagonist Issa (Issa Rae, Little) deals with heartache, breakups, managing friendships, and her professional life, all the while trying to maintain a stable life in Los Angeles. As a show, it has a distinct way of uncovering its characters vulnerabilities, which lends credence to the shows title Insecure.

HBO’s press release also revealed that Issa will be grappling with new and old relationships in season 5 so fans of the show will be excited to see which characters could potentially return from past seasons and how they shape the events of this upcoming season. “The new season will continue to follow our favorite characters as they evaluate their relationships, both new and old, in an effort to figure out who and what comes with them in this next phase of their lives,” Gravitt stated in the press release.

Season four of Insecure was one of its most successful seasons yet so all eyes are set on season five delivering on both the comedic and dramatic battlefield. With filming beginning production later this month and a release date set for later this year, viewers will be able to find out what kind of obstacles await Issa in the final chapter of her story.
