According to Deadline ,The Penguin concluded its season with a strong finish, drawing 2.1 million cross-platform viewers across HBO and Max for its finale on Sunday. The impressive viewership highlights the series’ growing popularity and sets the stage for future installments.
According to Deadline, in a significant milestone, The Penguin finale surged to a new viewership high, posting a 50% increase in audience compared to its debut night. Although Warner Bros. Discovery has not disclosed the exact premiere figures, the company has regularly released viewership data throughout the series, underscoring its increasing popularity.
Numbers started to skyrocket, as we saw with last week’s episode, which peaked at 1.9 million viewers, according to WBD and Deadline. Episode one was also not shy of such amazing numbers, with a report of 17 million views.
With so much anticipation for the finale episode, the streams have been up since November 10, when The Penguin achieved its strongest single-day performance on Max in the U.S., helping the series deliver its best week domestically and globally.
Receiving global recognition, The Penguin ranks as the third most-watched debut season for an HBO or Max series, trailing only The House of the Dragon and The Last of Us.
According to Deadline, The Penguin, from DC Studios, is executive produced by Matt Reeves (The Batman, Felix and the Rat), Dylan Clark (The Batman, The War of the Worlds), Colin Farrell (The Batman, True Detective) and Lauren LeFranc (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Chuck), who also serves as writer and showrunner. Craig Zobel (The Hunt, Righteous Gemstones) directed the first three episodes in addition to executive producing, while Bill Carraro (The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire) also serves as an executive producer.
In addition to Farrell, the cast of The Penguin includes Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother, Fargo), Rhenzy Feliz (On My Block, The Sex Lives of College Girls), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy), Michael Kelly (House of Cards, Jack Ryan), Clancy Brown (The Mandalorian, The Crown) and Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse, 24).
