Many HBO and Max original programs are in the running for critical acclaim this year. The official Warner Bros. Discovery press release announced that the networks received 91 Emmy nominations throughout 28 original series for the 76th annual Emmy Awards. While only the Emmy nominations have been released, the winners will be revealed on Sunday, September 15, when The 76th Emmy Awards premieres.
According to the press release, the shows which received nominations are True Detective: Night Country, Hacks, The Gilded Age, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Jinx – Part Two, The Righteous Gemstones, Conan O’Brien Must Go, How To with John Wilson, Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die, STAX: Soulsville U.S.A., We’re Here, Alex Edelman: Just For Us, Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project, The Idol, John Early: Now More Than Ever, The Other Two, Ramy Youssef: More Feelings, Real Time with Bill Maher: Overtime, The Regime, Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed, Scavengers Reign, Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History Of Popular Music, The Sympathizer, Telemarketers and Warrior.
Ranking in at 19 Emmy nominations is True Detective: Night Country, “the most of any limited or anthology series,” and 17 nominations for Hacks, via the official press release. The Gilded Age and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver received six nominations. Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty received five nominations. Albert Brooks: Defending My Life and Curb Your Enthusiasm received four nominations, with Curb Your Enthusiasm tying hit shows Cheers and M.A.S.H. “for record number of seasons nominated for outstanding comedy series,” via the official press release.
The press release also stated that The Jinx – Part Two and The Righteous Gemstones received three nominations. Conan O’Brien Must Go, How To with John Wilson, Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die, STAX: Soulsville U.S.A. and We’re Here received two nominations.
