According to HBO, HBO and HBO Max had huge night at the 77th annual Emmy Awards, taking home 30 trophies across 12 original programs and tying for the most wins of any network of streaming service.
Crime drama The Pitt was among the night’s biggest winners, earning five awards including Outstanding Drama Series. Noah Wyle ( ER, Falling Skies) won Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama Series, while Katherine LaNasa ( Truth Be Told, Devious Maids) and Shawn Hatosy ( Animal Kingdom, Southland) took home Supporting and Guest Actor awards, respectively. The series also won for Oustanding Casting for a Drama Series.
The Penguins had the most wins on the night, with nine. Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, Made for Love) was named Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, and the series received Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup among other accolades. On the comic side, Hacks swept the acting categories. Jean Smart (Mare of Easttown, Watchmen) was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Hannah Einbinder won Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Julianne Nicholson received Outstanding Guest Actress.
HBO Max also dominated the nonfiction category, capturing all three major honors. 100 Foot Wave was named Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, while Pee-wee as Himself won Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program.
Other highlights included Somebody Somewhere (Jeff Hiller for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), Conan O’Brien Must Go (Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special), and The White Lotus (Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music).
The Righteous Gemstones won Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series, House of the Dragon won Outstanding Period or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), and The Last of Us received Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour).HBO Max now offers all of HBO and HBO Max’s Emmy-winning shows for streaming.
