Billy Crystal’s Broadway play 700 Sundays will be recorded in front of a live audience for HBO.
According to Deadline, HBO plans on taping 700 Sundays on January 3 and 4 at the Imperial Theatre in New York. 700 Sundays is an autobiographical journey where Crystal plays a number of characters who influenced the man he is today, his youth, growing up in Manhattan, his teen years and adulthood.
700 Sundays broke Broadhurst Theatre’s highest weekly gross house record its opening week and continued in subsequent weeks. It has received the Tony Award for Special Theatrical Event, Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle awards for 2005.
This will be Crystal’s sixth HBO solo special following On Location, A Comics Line, Don’t Get Me Started, The Lost Minutes and Midnight Train To Moscow.
Billy Crystal, Janice Crystal, Larry Magid and David Steinberg will executive produce. Des McAnuff will direct. It will debut on HBO later in 2014.
