Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka will reunite on Disney+. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Friday that Hayden Christensen (Jumper) will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming Ahsoka series at the streamer.
Ahsoka will star Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) in the titular role and will be reprising the role after appearing on season two of The Mandalorian. The character first appeared in Star Wars animation in both The Clone Wars and Rebels before making her live-action debut in The Mandalorian.
Not much is known about the plot of the new series. Longtime Star Wars writer Dave Feloni (The Bad Batch) will write the series and Mandalorian director Jon Favreau will executive produce.
Anakin’s role in the Ahsoka series is unclear, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Ahsoka series will be set in the time period following the events of Return of the Jedi in which Vader died. The last time Anakin and Ahsoka crossed paths was during Star Wars: Rebels where the two engaged in an intense duel.
Christensen’s role in the series could be a series of flashbacks. However, with Force Ghosts existing in the Star Wars universe, sources to The Hollywood Reporter speculate that Anakin could be appearing as a Force Ghost. Christensen will also be returning as Darth Vader in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Like many of its upcoming projects, Disney was silent in commenting on Anakin’s appearance in Ashoka. Production is set to begin in early 2022, but a premiere has not been confirmed.
Ahsoka will stream exclusively on Disney+
