Production is currently underway on the second season of HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series. Now, speaking to The Big Issue magazine (via Bang Premiere) actor Lenny Rush is teasing his role as Dobby in season 2 of the television show.
Rush was asked whether Dobby would be created using makeup, motion capture, or if he would merely be a voice role, but the actor chose not to answer the question, saying, “Oh no! Sorry, I can’t.” Rush continued, “But I’ve seen the route they’re going down and how we’re gonna do it together and yeah, Dobby’s gonna look great. I’m really pleased with him.”
Rush also stated that he had yet to see the final results of filming for the role, saying, “What I will say is that I’m so excited. The only stuff I’ve seen is what everyone else has seen, the trailers for the first series.” It’s unclear whether the actor has actually begun filming for the role.
Season 1 of the Harry Potter reboot drops on Christmas Day, 2026. The series premieres 15 years after the classic films, with the only returning actor being Warwick Davis (Willow, Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi) as Professor Flitwick. Dominic McLaughlin (Grow, Gifted) is set to star as the Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter himself. Rounding out the cast is Alastair Stout as Ronald Weasley and Arabella Stanton (Matilda the Musical, Starlight Express) as Hermione Granger.
As mentioned previously, season 2 of the series is now in production. Initially, the production was set for a yearly release, but production issues made it clear that the show will not be released yearly. However, HBO CEO Casey Bloys did make it clear that there would not be two years in-between seasons. Several new faces have already signed on for season 2, most notably Kit Harington, who’s set to star as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.
