Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) is slated to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series alongside Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) titled Shrinking, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will be his first ongoing role in a TV series throughout his colored career.
The series will hail from Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso), Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) and Segel. It will center around a grieving therapist, Jimmy, played by Segel, who begins telling his clients everything on his mind, while ignoring the ethics that come with the job. This change in his practice begins to change his and his clients’ lives.
Ford will play the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, a “blue collar shrink” and leader in cognitive behavioral therapy. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Rhodes must deal with his shared practice with Jimmy and a still-uncast character, Gaby, while also attempting to maintain his legacy.
While he made some guest appearances on TV series in the 1960s and 1970s, this upcoming series will mark Ford’s first recurring role in a TV series. Ford most recently wrapped filming on Indiana Jones 5 and starred in an adaptation of The Call of the Wild in 2020.
Shrinking hails from two Ted Lasso producers, Lawrence and Emmy-winner Goldstein. They will be joined by executive producers Neil Goldman (Community) and Jeff Ingold (The Office).
