Prime Video’s Gen V received an update on what will come in season two, including Hamish Linklater (The Big Short, Battleship) joining the cast roaming the fictional grounds of Godolkin University according to TVLine. Linklater has been cast as Cipher, Godolkin University’s newest dean. 

Linklater’s role as Cipher has been described by TVLine as embodying charm and charisma. The official character description explaining that “he’s trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”

Coverage also reports that season two will confront actor Chance Perdomo’s (After We Fell, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) death, who played the prominent character Andre Anderson in the series. After Perdomo’s passing on March 29th, 2024, production on season two came to a halt, says mxdwn, with writers and producers unsure of how to address Perdomo’s absence in the new season. Season one left Andre Anderson’s development unfinished, but talks of Anderson’s family arc were speculated to be a segue writers might choose for season two, reports mxdwn. However, creatives for Gen V announced in May that they would not be recasting Perdomo’s role, addressing through social media that, “We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May,” via mxdwn.

While season two’s story is being reworked, Linklater will join stars from Gen V season one, claims TVLine. Featured in the first season were actors Shelley Conn (Bridgerton, Good Omens) as Indira Shetty, Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Easy) as Marie Moreau, Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Ghost Wars) as Cate Dunlap, Lizze Broadway (Ghosted, Here and Now) as Emma Meyer and Sean Patrick Thomas (Till, Barbershop) as Polarity, to name a few.
