Halle Berry (Catwoman, Monster’s Ball) will no longer be a part of the cast of the new Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Glee) series All’s Fair. Deadline announced her departure on Monday night, despite the recent news of new casting within the series. The Oscar and Emmy winner has yet to make any statement regarding her departure.
The news of Berry’s departure is announced only a little over a week after it was announced that she would be leading the series alongside Glenn Close and playing opposite reality star Kim Kardashian (American Horror Story, Keeping Up With The Kardashians). According to Deadline, reps from Hulu and 20th Television were asked about the recent departure, but did not share a comment on the recent casting change. The announcement of Berry’s departure was first announced by Variety and is speculated that Berry is leaving due to alleged scheduling conflicts between this series and her other work.
Murphy’s series All’s Fair is described as a sexy legal drama series that follows an all-female law firm with Kardashian playing the leading top Los Angeles Divorce Lawyer. It is written by Jon Robin Biatz and Joe Baken, who are also set to executive produce. This is also the first series done by Murphy, who is set to direct the new series, in his new deal with Disney.
Berry is slated to be seen in a brand new action thriller coming to Netflix. She will star alongside Mark Wahlberg in a new movie titled The Union. The official longline of the movie states that it is about “Mike, a down-to-earth construction worker, is thrust into the world of super spies and secret agents when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne, recruits him on a high-stakes US intelligence mission.” This new work from Berry will be arriving on Netflix on August 16.
There is no word on any casting replacement for Berry after her departure.
