According to Deadline, Ray Donovan is getting spinoff series on Paramount+ titled The Donovans. The series is set to be directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes), with Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies, Top Boy) attached to write all ten episodes of the series.
The series by Showtime/MTV Studios and 101 Studios is expected to debut for subscribers of Paramount+ with Showtime later this year.
According to Paramount+, the provided series synopsis: “With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.”
The series will focus on two generations of gangsters, the relationships they have with their business and the fixers they hire.
According to Deadline, Chris McCarthy (Out of Iraq, The T Word), President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement, “Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett are the ideal dream-team to create a new global hit franchise with The Donovans. Guy’s riveting and stylish directorial approach combined with Ronan’s captivating and brutally authentic writing will transfix audiences into a wild and twisted world full of new adventures.”

Ray Donovan isn’t the first series to be brought back by Paramount+ with the announcement of Billions and Dexter spinoffs being planned. Ray Donovan was brought back once before with a made for TV film following the series cancellation in 2020.
“We’re leaning into our Showtime franchises,” Paramount CEO Bob Bakish (Barron’s Roundtable) said. “You could think of the slate as smaller, which will be less expensive, but also really giving the people what they want, which is more Showtime, maybe more Dexter, maybe more Ray Donovan, and really leaning into that.”
The series is executive produced by Ivan Atkinson (Wrath of Man, The Gentlemen), Bennett, Ron Burkle (The Giver, 3 Days to Kill), David C. Glasser (Lion, 1883), David Hutkin (Special Ops: Lioness, 1923), Ritchie and Bob Yari (Crash, Hostage).
