Guillermo del Toro, the award winning filmmaker has announced the cast for Trollhunters, TV Series Finale reports. Del Toro, who created and executive produced the animated series also co-authored the Trollhunters novel with Daniel Kraus. The upcoming Netflix series stars Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser, Cheers), Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy), and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Fright Night).
The fantasy show is produced by DreamWorks Animation for Netflix. Joining del Toro as executive producers are Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow), Christina Steinberg (Rise of the Guardians, National Treasure), and Chad Hammes (Dragons: Race to the Edge) with Dan Hageman (The Lego Movie) and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie) co-executive producing the series.
Trollhunters will show the hidden world of heroes and trolls right underneath our feet. In addition, the family event series features a tale of two fantastical worlds destined to collide in a revolutionary saga. Set in the fictional suburb of Arcadia, Jim an unlikely hero, and his two best friends stumble across a startling discovery right beneath their hometown. They come across a hidden battle between good trolls and bad, the outcome of which will change everyone’s lives forever.
In the series, Yelchin will portray Jim, an ordinary teenage boy who finds a mystical amulet and this sets his life on a course filled with life changing adventures. Grammer will play Blinky, an amiable troll who befriends Jim. Perlman will lend his voice for the role of Bulgar, an evil troll who targets Jim and his friends for battle. Trollhunters will feature engaging visuals and a complex story from the creative mind of del Toro whose professional work includes Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and Crimson Peak.
Trollhunters is slated for a December 2016 debut on the popular streaming service.
