It’s official: TBS is shutting down the comedy after a second season.
The workplace Comedy Ground Floor from executive producer Bill Lawrence has been cancelled on TBS after a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ground Floor‘s season 2 finale on February 10th will have to double as its series finale.
The Star of Ground Floor Skylar Austin, does not have to fear however. He has the sequel of Pitch Perfect due later this year and has been drawing several other offers for the season.
The news comes as TNT/TBS topper Kevin Reilly has been looking for edgier fare in a bid to break through the increasingly competitive scripted landscape. This news is nearly two weeks after TBS granted its cast options to explore pilots in second position to Ground Floor. The rest of TBS’ comedy slate includes rookies Tribeca, Your Family or Mine, Buzzy’s, and a 12th season renewal for American Dad.
With the cancellation of Ground Floor and Cougar Town which transferred over from ABC, Lawrence will go from two shows on TBS to none. He still has NBC’s sophomore comedy Undateable and CBS pilots Rush Hour and a Timmy Johnagin comedy in contention.
Last year at this time, Lawrence had four shows on the air: Ground Floor, Undateable, Fox’s Surviving Jack and Cougar Town.
Ground Floor joins Men at Work and Sullivan & Son as recent cancellations at TBS.
