ABC is gearing up to bring one of its hit TV series, Grey’s Anatomy, back on the air. According to Deadline, the series’s upcoming 20th season’s teaser opened with some scenes featuring Ellen Pompeo’s (Catch Me If You Can, Law & Order) Meredith Grey. Pompeo has another project with Hulu titled Orphan, a limited series that will lead her to play a minor role on the show this season.
At the end of season 19, fans saw Dr. Grey moving to Boston, and it is now apparent that she may be making some trips back to Seattle to visit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital during season 20.
The season’s sneak peek starts with Meredith asking Miranda Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson (Frankie & Alice, Philadelphia), “How long do I have to wait?” It is currently unknown what Meredith is waiting for. A separate conversation shows Bailey telling Grey the interns “are in trouble.”
Actor Scott Speedman (Felicity, The Vow), who plays Nick Marsh, will also return to Grey Sloan and continue “hovering over the interns” following the season 19 finale, where he and Meredith professed their feelings for one another in Boston. On the topic of interns, they seem to be getting themselves into their chaotic situations around the hospital.
Link, played by Chris Carmack (Nashville, Shark Night), and Jo, played by Camilla Luddington (Californication, True Blood), had some sparks fly last season and are now an item; in contrast, Richard, played by James Pickens Jr. (Station 19, Yellowstone), is dealing with his sobriety.
The teaser also provided an answer for the future of Teddy Altman, played by Kim Raver (Bones, Station 19), who collapsed following a toothache at the end of season 19. Winston, played by Anthony Hill (Faith Under Fire, Rebirth), can be seen at the end of the teaser saying that Altman is in “critical condition.”
