As the actress prepares to leave, Grey’s Anatomy‘s writers are preparing a special episode to bid her farewell, says TVLine.
Sandra Oh might be leaving Grey’s Anatomy, but she won’t be doing it without a proper goodbye: the ABC show will dedicate an entire episode to her character, Christina Yang.
“Do You Know” will air on March 27 and the episode will develop through a Sliding Doors (1998 movie) concept, showing the viewers Christina’s choices through her life, and how things could have been if she had taken different courses of action.
This comes after Sandra Oh revealed last summer that this season would be her last playing the ambitious and driven surgeon on the ABC show, and also after Shonda Rhimes, the show creator, had promised both the actress and her character would get “the exit [they] deserve.”
The Canadian actress has been portraying Christina Yang since the show started in 2005 and is set to star in two movies, Tammy (with Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon) and 33 Liberty Lane.
There still isn’t an official word on whether Grey’s Anatomy will be renewed for another season, but it looks like a done deal since the show keeps its high ratings even after ten seasons.
Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, who play the show’s leading characters, Meredith and Derek, have already inked contracts for two more seasons on the show.
The rest of the original cast, which includes Chandra Wilson, Justin Chambers and James Pickens Jr. have their contracts ending at the conclusion of this season, and there is no word on their futures as of right now.
