‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Alum Sarah Drew Set To Star In New Hallmark Series ‘Mistletoe Murders’

A new series entitled Mistletoe Murders is coming to Hallmark Media, with Grey’s Anatomy alum Sarah Drew (Everwood, Mom’s Night Out) slated to star. According to TVLine, the series is an adaptation of a fictional Audible podcast series by the same name that stars Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, Secret Invasion). However, Drew will take Smulders’ place in the series as she will star as lead character Emily Lane.

Mistletoe Muders chronicles Drew, as portrayed by Emily, the owner of the small-town Christmas shop called Under the Mistletoe. Emily lives a double life as she maintains her shop and investigates local murders alongside a police detective and his daughter.

As per TVLine, the official logline for the series reads, “On the surface, Emily is a perfectly lovely, good-natured mystery lover but she is hiding a secret past that, if exposed, threatens to destroy the new life she has built in Fletcher’s Grove.”

Not much is known yet about the details surrounding Mistletoe Murders. However, the series is anticipated to debut on either the Hallmark Channel or another Hallmark Media platform. TVLine notes that the series’ production is set to kick off in Toronto in June.

The podcast version of Mistletoe Murders currently has two seasons on Audible that stars Anna Cathcart (Odd Squad, XO, Kitty) as the police daughter, Violet, and Raymond Ablack (Orphan Black, Narcos), who stars as the police detective, Sam Wilner.

Most known for starring in Grey’s Anatomy, Drew portrayed Doctor April Kepner for nine seasons until she left the series at the end of season 14. TVLine also notes that Drew has since made two short appearances on the series during seasons 17 and 18.

Drew’s other credits include several titles for Hallmark Media, including One Summer, Christmas in Vienna and Guiding Emily.
