Greer Grammer Joins ‘Frasier’ Season Two as Roz’s Daughter Alice

TVLine provides information about the casting of Greer Grammer (Awkward, The Middle) as Alice Doyle, the grown-up daughter of Roz Doyle, in season two of the Paramount+ revival of Frasier. Greer Grammer is the real-life daughter of Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Transformers: Age of Extinction), who portrays Frasier Crane. Her casting follows Peri Gilpin’s (Scorpion, Broad City) return as Roz Doyle in the season one finale. Gilpin will continue to appear as Roz on a recurring basis in season two. This shows a deliberate effort to reconnect with characters from the original series, which adds depth and familiarity to the revival.

Additionally, Variety hints at a potential storyline for season two, suggesting that Roz may be considering leaving Seattle, her long-time home. This teaser provides insight into the character’s arc and potential developments in the upcoming season.

Alice May Doyle was introduced in season five of the original NBC run of Frasier. The young Alice was portrayed by a child actor, Ashley Thomas (All My Children, Sky Kids) during seasons ten and eleven. In the revival, Alice is now in her late twenties, having moved to Providence to study architecture. She is free-spirited, like her mother Roz, and very friendly. Alice is excited about reconnecting with Frasier’s son, Freddy. However, her presence might create complications in Freddy’s romantic life. In other words, Alice’s return could potentially be disruptive, introducing new dynamics and challenges within the show.

Kelsey Grammer reprises his role as the psychiatrist Frasier Crane, a character he first portrayed on the show Cheers and then continued in the spinoff Frasier. In this revival, Frasier has returned to Boston to reconnect with his son, Freddy. Along the way, he takes a teaching position at Harvard University.

TVLine also introduces some of the key cast members in the revival. Jack Cutmore-Scott (Tenet, Oppenheimer) plays Freddy, Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools and Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart) portrays Frasier’s friend and colleague Alan, Toks Olagundoye (Castle, The Neighbors) appears as Olivia, the department head at Harvard, Jess Salgueiro (The Boys, Workin’ Moms) is Freddy’s friend and roommate Eve and Anders Keith (Variations) plays Frasier’s nephew David.
