Grace Byers will be joining FOX’s Marvel drama The Gifted when the series comes back for its second season. She will play as Reeva. FOX describes her character as, “a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people.” Reeva will be teaming up with: Polaris (Emma Dumont), White’s Andy Strucker (Percy Hynes), and the telekinetic Frost sisters played by Skyler Samuels.
The network said, “She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits, but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision.”
The Gifted is set within the X-Men Universe. Reeva was in the Hellfire Club’s inner circle when Shinobi Shaw ran the group. She is also a mutant with her ability being “mental balance distortion.” This means that her voice can to create a sound that directly affects a person’s brain. This can cause dizziness and hallucinations. Because this sound he too high to be noticed by human hearing, it goes unnoticed until the person is affected by the sound.
Before joining The Gifted, Byers played in the series Empire, she also married her co-star Trai Byers from the show in 2016. She also made an appearance in the indie thriller Bent last year as a jazz singer. She is also wrote a New York Times bestseller children’s book called I am Enough (illustrations by Keturah A. Bobo). The story was inspired by her own childhood by being a multiracial girl.
The Gifted will return to FOX on both a new day and time this coming fall.
