Season 2 of Gotham will bring the new era of the series, the rise of the villains. Fox has just released two new promos for the upcoming season (via Variety). One is entitled “Hungry” and the other “The Cave”.
Gotham is an origin story of a famous detective in a world that birthed one of the most famous superheroes. It is an origin story following Jim Gordon in the city of Gotham, where Batman originated as well. Gotham follows Jim Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie (Southland), before he became the police commissioner Batman fans know him to be. In the series young Gordon is seeing the rise of the famously known villains and vigilantes. Gotham is an origin story, and fans are waiting on who will rise next.
In one of the new promos, “Hungry”, villain Theo Gallivan (James Frain) says that “monsters are coming, cleanse this city in blood and fire”. In “Hungry” a rendition of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the Wolf” plays. While in “The Cave” we see young Bruce Wayne discovering the batcave. It also ends with the tagline, “Rise of the Villains”. The two new promos are short insights to the upcoming characters who will rise in Gotham.
Gotham‘s sophomore season debuts September 21 on Fox.
