Gordon Ramsey Ignites Maiden Scripted Series

Deadline has reported that infamous hot head and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey (Hell’s Kitchen, Master Chef) will make the transition from reality television to a scripted series. Ramsey will executive produce The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn, starring Rachel Bilson (The OC, Nashville), based on the novel by Kathleen Flinn (Kitchen Counter Cooking School, Burnt Toast Makes You Sing Good).

According to Deadline, Ramsey will get his maiden EP credit for a scripted series in the semi-autobiographical series about Flinn’s tenure at a Paris culinary school. Fox Entertainment Studios is currently developing the series.

Deadline has reported that Stephanie Dalner (Sweetbitter, Stray), who is writing the Apple TV+ and  A24 collaboration starring Emily Rajitowski, will also write the adaptation.

The logline for the book is as follows: Kathleen Flinn, a recently laid-off middle manager who decides to cash in her savings and start fresh with a new beginning abroad in cooking school. Trading boardrooms for burners and office politics for high-pressure kitchens, Kathleen embarks on a funny, heartfelt journey of self-discovery. The city of lights, a.k.a Paris, serves as the backdrop for the novel and presumably the series, via Deadline.

Deadline has reported that, in addition to Ramsay, his CCO of Ramsay Studios, Lisa Edwards (Next Level Chef UK, Antiques Roadshow), Olivia Allen (Pig Hill, The Young And The Restless), and Flinn will serve as executive producers.

According to Deadline, Bilson served as a major attraction for studios. Since her time on the early 2000s smash hit The OC, she has starred in the Fox series by Howard Gordon, Accused. Her other credits include Take Two and Nashville. This will not be Danler’s first foray into adaptation. She penned the novel Sweetwater, which she then adapted for Starz. She is also working on the Emily Rajatowski series, directed by Lena Dunham.

Deadline has reported that Studio Ramsay and Fox have collaborated on numerous projects, including Kitchen Nightmares and Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service. As of late, Ramsay has begun to expand into the scripted series, where Ramsay’s work will mainly be behind the camera.
