‘Goosebumps’ Poster and Teaser Trailer Reveals a Revamped Slappy

A new poster has been released for the newest Goosebumps series. Slappy, the iconic dummy from the books of the same title that the series is based on, has gotten revamp in the newest poster. Along with this, a teaser trailer has been released, and audiences are in for a scare.

Goosebumps is set to debut on October 13 on Disney+. It will follow the adventures of a group of teenagers who make the mistake of letting supernatural entities enter their town and cause mayhem. The trailer shows our first peek at the frights that will ensue after the spooky spirits are unleashed. We see our main cast staring blankly at something unknown, with their eyes fully blackened. Then, there are several flashes of the text reading “Don’t Blink” followed by some scary images such as the cast screaming, someone smiling sinisterly, and ending on the eye of what appears to be the revamped Slappy dummy.

The poster depicts the main cast of the show arranged behind pieces of broken glass, with Slappy having his head in the middle. Fans of the original series will quickly recognize that Slappy has gotten quite the makeover. He has been given more of a wooden look, less smooth than the previous dummy, in order to look more realistic and much more creepy. While it is unknown how much Slappy content audiences will be getting in the new series, seeing him in the center of the poster and at the final moments of the new trailer, Slappy’s status as the mascot of the Goosebumps series seems to remain intact.

Goosebumps stars Justin Long (New Girl, Barbarian), Ana Yi Puig (Senior Year), Miles McKenna (Guilty Party), Will Price (The Equalizer, Zack Morris (EastEnders), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), and Rachael Harris (Suits, Diary of a Wimpy Kid). The new series premieres on Disney+ on October 13th. Watch the trailer below!
