According to Deadline, Last September 16 year old Owen Cooper (Film Club, Wuthering Heights) became the youngest actor to have won an Emmy for acting. Tonight, Cooper broke another record and became the youngest winner in the best suppoting Actor catagory. Cooper won for his supporting role for Netflix’s Adolescene. In 2010 Chris Colfer (Ridley Jones, the Potters) won for the show Glee when he was 20 years old. In addition to being the youngest in his catagory, he also became the youngest male Golden-Globe-Winner of all time. Although, in 1990 Ricky Schroder (Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, Our Wild Hearts) won the New Star Of The Year in the Motion Picture category for his film, The Champ.
Deadline noted that the other nominees, that Cooper beat out are, Billy Crudup (Jay Kelly, Donnybrook) from The Morning Show, Walton Goggins (Fallout, The Unicorn) and Jason Issacs (Heavy Weight, Juliet & Romeo) from The White Lotus, Tramell Tillman (Ramble on, Barron’s Cove) from Severance and finally Cooper best out his co-star from Adolescene, Ashley Walters (Reload, A Thousand Blows).
As Cooper accepted his award he said, “Standing here at the Golden Globes does not frrl real, whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through.” He continues, “We are forever grateful…I thought, I might be ok, I might be awful, I never know. So, I took a risk adn I went to drama classes. I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing, But I got through it. I’m still very much an apprentice. I’m still lerning every day, I’m still learning from people that are sat in front of me, that inspired me. It’s mad what’s going on.” Deadline recorded.
Cooper ended his speech with a shoutout to his favorite soccer team, “Bring on 2026, You’ll niver walk alone.” He added at the end.
