Naya Rivera, 33, former Glee star went missing after a swimming accident at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California according to the Ventura County sheriff’s department via Variety. Rivera and her son Josey, 4, rented a pontoon boat Wednesday afternoon around 1pm, according to the Ventura County sheriff’s department. Three hours later, another boater found the child alone on the boat. Josey is said to be unharmed and told police investigators that he and his mother were swimming and she never returned to the boat.
At 9:30 PM on Wednesday the sheriffs department began investigating the scene for possible drowning, with a dive team and police investigation team.
Later in the evening, they announced the Ventura County sheriff’s department identified the missing person as Rivera, stating a search and rescue mission is underway and will continue on Thursday.
The Actress’s breakout role in Glee as Santana Lopez from 2009 to 2015 led Rivera to many opportunities in Devious Maids and Step Up: High Water. Her performances in Glee received a People’s Choice Award, Screen Actors Guild Awards and multiple other nominations.
