Heading into its fifth season, the cast of Glee has grown significantly smaller.
Five of the show’s original cast members will not be returning as series regulars, TVLine reports. Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) are all moving on to other ventures.
The casting news is fairly unsurprising: many of them only appeared in a few of last seasons’ episodes, as their characters have gone on to college or careers in the entertainment industry. Even Heather Morris’s Brittany graduated from McKinley High at the end of season four and was headed to MIT.
The option does remain open for the actors to return as guest stars in the show’s fifth season.
Glee is set to return September 19 on Fox.
