Per Deadline, George Clooney (From Dusk Till Dawn, Michael Clayton) expressed his support for former ER co-star Noah Wyle (Donnie Darko, A Few Good Men) and the success he has found in his medical drama The Pitt.
Reported by Deadline, the pair have remained friends throughout the years since their time together on ER. While on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote his play Good Night, and Good Luck, a historical drama play about the conflict between Edward R. Murrow and Joseph McCarthy, which Clooney himself has written and stars in, Clooney also took the time to promote Wyle’s production.
According to Deadline, after Meyers mentions The Pitt, Clooney asks the audience if they have seen it. “It’s so good,” he proclaims. Reminiscing about their past, Clooney mentions that they have “been really dear friends since we did the pilot [for ER],” continuing, “He is just the most honorable, talented young man. I get to say [that] because I’m an old man and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it.”
According to the Television Academy, several members of the old ER cast are present on The Pitt, including its showrunner John Wells (The Company Men, The West Wing), executive producer R. Scott Gemmill (Jag, ER), as well as Wyle. The show takes place in the Pittsburgh emergency department, and it uniquely covers a single 15-hour shift, with each episode covering only one hour. The show dives into the personal crises, workplace politics, and emotional toll experienced by the doctors, nurses, residents, interns, and medical students as they perform their duties.
Clooney and Wyle worked together on the set of the late 90s hit show ER for five seasons. It seems their friendship has stood the test of time.
