This article includes spoilers for Gen V. According to Variety, The Amazon Prime Video series Gen V had the finale broken down by the showrunners Eric Kripke and Michele Fazekas. When asked questions regarding the show, Fazekas remained elusive, but Kripke was able to elaborate on what went down in those final scenes. The series has been renewed for a second season, which the duo also discussed.
According to IMDB, Gen V is “From the world of The Boys comes Gen V, which explores the first generation of superheroes to know that their super powers are from Compound V. These heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test competing for the school’s top ranking.”
Variety reports that season one ended with “Marie (Jaz Sinclair) survived her first semester at supe college Godolkin University — barely — but it doesn’t look like she’s going into second one any time soon. As the Season 1 finale of The Boys spinoff Gen V concludes, Marie and her friends stuck inside some kind of hospital room with no doors and no clue how they got there.”
When Variety asked the duo about the finale, Kripke said that season two is underway, explaining that “We had the second season writers room running prior to the writers strike and then we had a very big pause. And so we came back after the strike and I had a few days of like, ‘what did we say? What is the show?’ But we’re in it now. We know what the general season looks like and we know some tentpoles and we’re breaking episodes.”
The duo also hinted to the future of the second season with Variety, with Kripke claiming that in regards to Marie surviving, “I will say that there is a reason and we will get into it in Season 2. It wasn’t just, ‘we need her alive, so let’s just have her survive.’ There’s a reason.”
