Because of the high number of viewers, the premiere crashed on HBO Go.
Just a month after the True Detective season finale crashed on HBO Go, service was again down for the season four premiere of Game of Thrones. Although many fans took to social media to express their unhappiness with the situation, the service errors did not affect ratings.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere was the most watched event on HBO since 2007’s series finale of The Sopranos. The premiere had 6.6 million viewers for its 9:00 showing, up 2.2 million from last year’s then-record season premiere.
