Netflix’s prequel series to the popular video game franchise based off of the novel series, The Witcher: Blood Origins has cast its second lead, Laurence O’Fuarain. The Irish actor has been featured on popular projects of the like, including Game Of Thrones, Vikings and Black 47, according to Deadline.
O’Fuarain will star in the series as Fjall, according to Deadline. Fjall is born into a clan of warriors who are sworn to protect the King. Tragedy plagues Fjall, as a loved one fell to their death in battle, trying to save him. The scar of that tragedy won’t allow him to rest, settle, or make peace with himself and the world around him. On a quest of redemption Fjall finds himself fighting beside some of the most unlikely of allies as he forges his own path to vengeance across a continent in turmoil.
With the first leading cast announced earlier, O’Fuarain will be joining Jodie Turner-Smith in the epic prequel project. Turner-Smith plays Eile, an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess. She left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician.
The Witcher: Blood Origins is set 1,200 years before the events of the initial Netflix series. The series will tell the story of the creation of the first prototype Witcher. The series will also depict the events that lead up to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves first merged to become one, according to Deadline.
Declan De Barra (Netflix’s Iron Fist, and theCW’s The Originals) will serve as the showrunner and executive producer along with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Netflix’s The Witcher) on the upcoming Netflix six part series.
