While vampire themed dramas are all the rage these days, FX’s The Strain must be doing something to keep viewers wanting more. A second season has officially been renewed according to The Hollywood Reporter, returning with 13 episodes in the summer of 2015.
Chuck Hogan’s book trilogy serves as the foundation for this series, telling the tale of a vampire virus that infects New York and a doctor who investigates the case. Hogan and partner producer Guillermo del Toro co-wrote the pilot based of Hogan’s three-book series.
Millions of fans tuned in to this series, ranking the series premiere as one of the most watched in FX history. The Strain just adds to the already immensely successful list of series for FX, including Sons of Anarchy, The Americans, American Horror Story, The Bridge, Fargo, and Tyrant.
