FX Orders Limited Series ‘Class of ‘09’ For Hulu, Featuring Brian Tyree Henry and Kate Mara

Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) and Kate Mara (A Teacher) are slated to appear in the new limited series Class of ’09 from FX, according to Variety. The show will consist of eight episodes and will air exclusively on FX on Hulu.

Class of ’09 is a one-hour drama series that follows a class of FBI agents from Quantico over three decades, according to Variety. The show explores the future of the criminal justice system and artificial intelligence.

Henry has been cast as the brilliant Agent Tayo Miller and Mara will play Agent Amy Poet, “a woman who never imagined joining the world of law enforcement and finds herself at the center of its most pivotal moment of transformation,” according to Variety.

Variety reports that the series comes from the makers of American Crime Story, including writer and executive producer Tom Rob Smith (The Assassination of Gianni Versace). Smith is joined by executive producers Nina Jacobson (Pose) and Brad Simpson (American Crime Story), with producer Nellie Reed (Y: The Last Man).

Class of ’09 brings together an incredible team of artists who have contributed to several of FX’s most distinctive and successful series from American Crime Story and Pose to Atlanta and A Teacher,” said Gina Balian, president of original programming for FX, via Variety.

Henry received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles on FX’s Atlanta. His additional television credits include This Is Us, Vice Principals and Boardwalk Empire. He will appear in Marvel’s highly-anticipated film, The Eternals.

Mara is best known for her role in the first season of Netflix’s House of Cards, but has since appeared in several TV dramas, including Pose, American Horror Story and A Teacher. On the film side, she has starred in Chappaquiddick, Megan Leavey and Shooter.
