American Crime Story‘s long-awaited third season is returning to TV on Tuesday, September 7 at 10/9c on FX. The anthology series’ next season, which is titled Impeachment, is set to follow the events surrounding President Bill Clinton’s impeachment following his affair with White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, via TVLine.
According to TVLine, Impeachment‘s official longline describes how the newest season will explore “the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country’s first impeachment proceedings in over century”. The cast of Impeachment includes Clive Owen (Children of Men) as President Bill Clinton, Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart) as Monica Lewinsky, Edie Falco (The Sopranos) as First Lady Hilary Clinton, Sarah Paulson (American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson) as Linda Tripp, Betty Gilpin (The Hunt) as Ann Coulter, Billy Eichner (Parks and Recreation) as Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge, and Annaleigh Ashford (American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace) as Paula Jones.
The first season of American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson, served as a courtroom drama following all the key players involved in the trial of the century. American Crime Story‘s sophomore season, The Assassination of Gianni Versace, focused on Andrew Cunanan, the man who murdered the fashion designer along with four other men in spree killings that sent the nation into a panic.
Along with FX’s premiere date announcement for Impeachment, the cable network announced the return dates for some of its other fan favorite series. According to TVLine, the third season of What We Do in the Shadows will air on the network Thursday, September 2. Additionally, Y: The Last Man will begin streaming exclusively on Hulu starting Monday, September 13.
