

FX’s Emmy award winning series Shogun is making strides when it comes to its second season. FX has gone ahead and added five new cast members into the second season. The actors are Risei Kukihara (Two Husbands One Wife, Shogun), Ryô Satô (Monsutâ, Strangers), Seishiro Nishida (AMI.exe, Shogun), Mantaro Koichi (Unmet: A Neurosurgeon’s Diary, Mantsu no Cinderella), and Takashi Yamaguchi (Accused, Pachinko).
For those who don’t know, Shogun tells a story involving Lord Yoshii Toranaga who must fight for his survival where his enemies are in the Council of Regents. One day a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village. The english captain John Blackthorne is captured and used as a vital strategic piece for Toranaga that will help him tip the scales of power in his favor to win a century defining civil war. According to Deadline, actors Kukihara will play Gaberiel, Satô will play Rin, Nishida will play Jōshin, Koichi will play Saitō, and Yamaguchi will play Kanō. The series is based off of the James Clavell (Shogun, Tai-Pan) novel under the same name.
The cast consists of Cosmo Jarvis (Warfare, The Alto Knights), Hiroyuki Sanada (John Wick: Chapter 4, Bullet Train), Anna Sawai (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Star Wars: Visions), Tadanobu Asano (Morte Cucina, Kanasando), Yûki Kedôin (Heirs, The Smashing Machine), Akiko Kobayashi (Cursed Psychic Video XXX ZERO, Tachibana Noboru – Seishun tebikae), Takehiro Hira (Anima, Rental Family), Hiroto Kanai (Toyotomi Kyôdai!, Lotus Kitchen), Hiroto Kanai (Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo, Tamatsuki no Yume), Yuki Kura (Kyojo: Requiem, Distance and Timing), Shinnosuke Abe (A Missing Part, Kazoku), and Saeko Kimura (The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Shogun).
With production of the second season already underway it’s only a matter of time until we get a first look at an official trailer. In the meantime, you can watch the first season of the series on Hulu which is where the second season will be streamed.
