HBO has just revealed new footage on its upcoming Lantern series, and also giving deeper dive into the origin story of main protagonist, John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre (Old, Kyprton). According to Screenrant, what we currently known abut the plot of the series is that John will be trained by Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Anniversary) to be his replacement, while at the same time solving mysterious deaths around the town of Nebraska.

Reported by Screenrant, the five minute clip was released across social medias, which shows Jihn as a kid watching Hal back in his prime on the news stopping a meateor, in which he has revealed his identity as the Green Lantern back in 1986. His father came home and disappointed in John watch the superhero on tv, he then brought outside, place an apple on his head and proceeds to shoot it off, he then asked him “are you afraid?” and he responded with “No, sir”.
We then cut towards two decades to 2016, in which an adult John is scene punching a boxing bag in a gym, and later jumping into a car alongside Hal Jordan, and does not show the same excitement of being next to his idol. Stated by Screenrant, by thoughtfully framing John’s fearlessness as a direct response to his turbulent upbringing, HBO creates a deeply relatable character arc that establishes a compelling emotional foundation ahead of the global premiere.
Fans will not have to wait in anticipation for much longer, as the approaching Lantern series is scheduled to land on HBO on August 16, at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT with the first episode available, and with weekly episodes released every Sunday.
