After two years have passed, the high octane spy thriller series, Black Doves has officially announce its comeback with an official trailer for its second season. Stated by Screenrant, the trailer picks up where the previous season with Helen Webb, played by Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride & Prejudice),who finds herself walking a dangerous tightrope while navigating high-stakes political conflict. Another returning members of the cast will be Ben Wishaw (Skyfall, Cloud Atlas) reprising his role as Helen’s assassin friend, Sam.
Reported by Screenrant, the official synopsis of the approaching season states,”In Season 2, Helen (Knightley) is still betraying her nation’s secrets to the covert organization she serves, the Black Doves. But after the misadventures of last Christmas, and with her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), preparing to become prime minister, she’s walking a more treacherous line than ever.”
The plot continues with”As Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs. Reed (Sarah Lancashire), is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend, Sam (Ben Whishaw). The once high-end triggerman is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything. With all the explosive wit of Season 1, Helen and Sam’s mission leads them back to old friends and enemies, through the dark decisions and painful sacrifices of their pasts, and right to the heart of the Black Doves.”
With the return of Knightley and Whishaw, other members of the second season’s cast will include Sarah Lancashire (Seeing Red, Happy Valley), Andrew Buchan (Carnival Row, Apartment 7A) and Kathryn Hunter (Vicious, Ladies First).
The upcoming season raises the stakes significantly, delving into darker, more devastating betrayals while showcasing an even sharper, more lethal wit from Helen. The second season is scheduled to land on Netflix on November 5, while waiting the entire first season of Black Doves is available to stream.
