According to Variety, the highly anticipated HBO mini-series The Palace continues to add to its star-studded cast, with the news that French actor-filmmaker Guillaume Gallienne has joined the production. The limited series, directed and executive produced by Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons), tells the story of a year within the walls of an authoritarian palace as it begins to unravel.

Kate Winslet (Titanic, Divergent), Hugh Grant (Glass Onion, Love Actually), Matthias Schoenaerts (Rust and Bone, Red Sparrow), and Andrea Riseborough (Waco, Black Mirror) all star in the show, with Gallienne playing the husband of Winslet’s character.

The series is written and executive produced by Will Tracy (The Menu, Succession), with Frank Rich (Succession, Veep), Tracey Seaward (Pistol, War Horse), Seth Reiss (The Menu, The Onion), Juli Weiner (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver), Jen Spyra (Big Time), Gary Shteyngart (Succession), and Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies) also serving as writers and executive producers. The Palace is set to begin filming at the end of the month or early February.

Gallienne, a trained theater actor from the prestigious Comedie Francaise, has had several critically acclaimed performances, including in Yves Saint Laurent and the award-winning comedy Me, Myself, and Mum, which marked his directorial debut. He has also had several roles in English-language movies such as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch.

The Palace will be the fourth HBO limited series for Kate Winslet, whose previous performances in limited series for the network have earned her several awards. Winslet is also attached to star in the HBO limited series Trust, based on the novel of the same name by Hernan Diaz (In The Distance). With a top-notch cast and a story that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats, The Palace is sure to be a must-see series when it premieres on HBO.
