Since the shows started, fans have been asking for a crossover between Marvel Television’s hit shows Cloak Dagger, which premiered on Freeform June 7, 2018, and Runaways, which premiered on Hulu November 21, 2017. Well the fans are finally getting their wish. Marvel Television announced that the stars of Cloak and Dagger, Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt, will be in the upcoming Season 3 of Runaways. According to Deadline, Jeph Loeb, the executive producer and Head of of Marvel Television stated, “It’s so fun being able to do something that revels in the Mighty Marvel Manner! Having these young heroes crossover allows fans of both shows to see the adventure everyone has been waiting for and we’ve only hinted at.”
Runaways follows a group of gifted teenagers as they are on the run from their super villain parents. The teens learn that their parents are part of an organization known as Pride that is trying to find a special mineral that could end up destroying the world. The group of teens include the leader and powerless Alex Wilder, played by Rhenzy Feliz, the sorceress Nico Minoru, played by Lyrica Okano, the half-alien and half-human Karolina Dean, played by Virginia Garder, the telepathic dinosaur tamer Gert Yorkes, played by Ariela Barer, the tech enhanced Chase Stein, played by Gregg Sulkin, and the super strong Molly Hernandez, played by Allegra Acosta. Season 2 of Runaways ended this past December, and Season 3 is to premiere later this year. The upcoming third season of Runaways follows the group as they search for their captured friends Chase Stein, Gert Yorkes, and Karolina Dean. The are going to go head-to-head with their unstoppable enemy, Jonah, who is played by Julian McMahon. To protect them Nico Minoru, sent them into a dark realm that is ruled by Morgan le Fay, who will be played by Elizabeth Hurley.
Cloak and Dagger follows two superpowered teenagers from very different backgrounds that team up to help clean up their home city of New Orleans. The show stars Olivia Holt, who plays Tandy Bowen, also known as Dagger, who is able to generate balls and daggers of light. It also stars Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson as Cloak, who while wearing his cloak is able to teleport as well as absorb evil doers into his cloak. While there is no official description of Season 3 of the show, it is expected to follow the heroes as they leave New Orleans in hopes of helping people all over the country.
Fans have been wanting this crossover since the show premiered, and because the superheroes have crossed paths in the comic books.
Marvel came out and stated, “How Cloak and Dagger will cross paths with our Runaways have yet to be revealed. But viewers should expect more details as we near the Season 3 premiere of Marvel’s Runaways.”
Season 3 of Runaways will premiere on Hulu on December 13.
