Freeform Renews ‘Famous in Love’ for Season 2

Bella Thorne is known for her controversial lifestyle and unapologetic attitude. Now it looks like she’ll continue to be in the spotlight for at least another year. TVLine reported on Thursday that Freeform’s Famous in Love, which features Thorne as the main character, has been renewed for a sophomore season.

Thorne portrays Paige Townsen, a college student with a dream of becoming a successful actress. After spontaneously auditioning for a film adaption of a popular novel, she is cast in the main role and her life is changed forever. The series also stars Charlie DePew as Jake Salt and Georgie Flores as Cassie Perkins, Paige’s two best friends from college and her roommates. Carter Jenkins stars as Rainer Devon, one of Paige’s love interests and her co-star in the film. Niki Koss portrays Alexis Glenn, an actress that has become Paige’s professional and personal nemesis. Keith Powers stars as  Jordan Wilder, another actor in the film and Rainer’s on-again-off-again best friend, while Pepi Sonuga stars as Tangey Turner, a pop star trying to make it as an actress. The main cast is rounded out by Perrey Reeves as Rainer’s mother Nina Devon, who is also a producer on the film.

The majority of Season 1 follows Paige and her friends as they navigate the world of fame. She is also caught in a love triangle with Rainer and Jake. The series finale found Paige confronted with both men declaring their love for her.

While it is not yet confirmed who Paige chooses, if she chooses anyone, Thorne definitely knows which love interest she’s rooting for. She previously told TVLine, “I like Paige and Rainer together,” she revealed. “Personally, when I’ve dated somebody not in the business, they just don’t understand. It’s easier to be with someone who understands that when I’m posting on social media all the time, it’s not just for fun. It literally pays my bills.”

Famous in Love was developed by Pretty Little Liars creator I. Marlene King and Rebecca Serle, the author of novel the series is based off of. King is thrilled that the series has been renewed and promises that there’s a lot of drama ahead in the upcoming season. “It’s great to know we are just getting started on this wild and fun Hollywood ride called Famous in Love,” she said. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to dive deeper into the world and characters we fell in love with last season.”

King also took to her personal Twitter account on Thursday to confirm the news. Check out the tweet below.

It has not yet been confirmed when Famous in Love will return for Season 2, but we can definitely expect a lot of drama.
