Everything is coming quickly regarding Freeform’s new mystery thriller The Watchful Eye. The Disney owned company released a trailer Wednesday with eager anticipation. According to Deadline, this would be a great mystery that can get complicated for these main characters.
In this new series, Mariel Molino (Promised Land, Lux Noctis) plays Elena Santos, who is a nanny for a wealthy family in Manhattan. Kelly Bishop (Gilmore Girls, Dirty Dancing) plays Elena’s aunt who tells her the residence she resides in holds many dark secrets. The twist is that Elena carries dark secrets from her own past that would impact everyone if it was uncovered.
The Hitchcock inspired show was crafted by Ryan Seacrest (American Idol, Insatiable) and his company bearing his name (Ryan Seacrest Productions) and ABC Signature. Formally known as “The Nanny”, The idea itself was first created by Julie Durk (Grace and Frankie, You’ve Got Mail) who will work with Seacrest as a consultant.
The showrunner and executive producer for the season is Emily Fox (The Pianist, The Soul Keeper). In Ryan Seacrest Productions, Nina Wass (Less Than Perfect, Shades of Blue), Andrea Shay (Insatiable, It Takes a Village), and Jeffrey Reiner (Dirty John, Friday Night Lights) join Fox as executive producers, with Reiner in charge of directing the pilot.
The show came out today at 9:00pm EST with its first two episodes. So far, it has received positive reviews with a 7.5/10 on IMDb. Viewers are keen to discover how you may not be able to trust the person sitting next to you. The show can be viewed on Hulu starting January 31st after its premiere on the Freeform channel.
