A new hour long drama/suspense show has been ordered by Freeform. The show is titled Close Up. Close Up is the first pilot to be greenlighted by Freeform’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Lauren Corraro. Corraro took the position in April 2019.
Close Up takes place in Centreville, NJ. Centerville is a normal suburban town, or so it appears. Rachel Guyer, a local high school student, is exposing the secrets about the people in her community and turning the town upside down. Carro said, “Close Up tells a wonderfully layered story that illuminates the strength behind one young woman’s act of rebellion and its impact on changing the world. This show will defy expectations and spark cultural conversation, and we are so grateful to Peter and Keith for bringing it to life on Freeform.”
Close Up will be executive produced by Peter Nowalk. Nowalk is known for his series How to Get Away With Murder on ABC. Close Up is a result from Nowalk’s three-year overall deal with ABC Signature Studios, who is producing the new series. Nowalk is working on Close Up with Keith Staskiewicz (Three Delivery). Staskiewicz created the show and wrote the pilot episode of Close Up. Nowalk says of Staskiewicz, “Keith is a brilliant storyteller. He’s created a show that is unique, mysterious and timely.” Nowalk continued his statement with excitement for the project, “We feel lucky that our executives at Freeform and Signature share our passion for these characters and can’t wait to make the pilot.”
Senior Vice President of ABC Signature Studios, Tracy Underwood, says, “We are beyond thrilled to land a home for Pete and this wildly talented fresh voice and first-time creator Keith Staskiewicz with our partners at Freeform.”
