The Disney-owned network Freeform has ordered a first season of a new comedy titled Single Drunk Female. According to Deadline, Simone Finch (writer, The Conners) wrote the pilot for the series which has just received a 10-episode order.
The series order comes only a few months after the pilot for the series was ordered. According to Deadline, Single Drunk Female is set to follow Samantha Fink, played by Sofia Black-D’Elia (Your Honor), an alcoholic who is forced to move home with her helicopter-parent mother in order to avoid legal punishment and sober up. When her lifelong best friend tells her surprising news, Samantha has to accept that she’s far beyond a hungover party girl, and is becoming an absolute train wreck.

In addition to Black-D’Elia, Single Drunk Female will star Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Sasha Compère (Love Life), Lily Mae Harrington (Some Freaks), and Garrick Bernard (Quinta vs. Everything). Finch, Jenni Konner (producer, Girls) and Phil Traill (producer, Good Girls) are all attached to executive produce the series alongside the pilot’s director and executive producer, Leslye Headland (producer, Russian Doll), via Deadline.
Tara Duncan, president of Freeform, spoke about her excitement for the series, stating “This show really embodies the strategy that I’m putting forth at Freeform; it’s very funny and it’s also grounded in authentic stories from one of the writers, Simone Finch”. (Deadline)
