According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frankie Muniz (Agent Cody Banks, Big Fat Liar) teased the upcoming reboot for Malcolm in the Middle, which he said was called “the best time of my entire life” to film. Muniz, who is now a professional race car driver, appeared on Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis (Blame the Hero, Madam Ex President), where he spoke about Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Everything’s Going to Be Great) and Jane Kaczmarek (Uncommon Valor, And Now I Lay Me Down) for the revival of the series. The reboot would be called Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair and will follow the iconic family in the series as they are all adults now.
“I’m not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have,” he said via The Hollywood Reporter. “We ended in May, and I haven’t talked to anybody since, you know what I mean? I’ve been gone. I’ve only been home, I think, for 12 days since the beginning of the year. I’m just always crazy, and I think next week, I’m going to have time. I’m going to reach out to the rest of the cast.”
As what fans of the series can expect from the four-episode reboot, via The Hollywood Reporter Muniz teased, “I think people will be surprised, in a sense, where everybody is and the story. But it’s only four episodes. … It’s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff into four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Malcom in the Middle follows Malcolm, a gifted individual in a dysfunctional family full of chaotic characters, as he navigates his intelligence in a world that often misunderstands him and treats him as an a nuisance. Cranston played Malcolm’s father, Hal, and Kaczmarek played his mother, Lois. Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is expected to premiere on Disney+ in December.
