Franka Potente has landed a role in the second season of TNT’s Claws. The Run Lola Run actress will recur in Season 2 of the crime drama-comedy series as Zlata Ostrovsky who is the newly reformed, former black sheep of a powerful Russian mob family who does business in Florida.
Potente’s TV credits include appearances on FX’s Taboo and The Bridge, as well as Syfy’s Dark Matter and BBC America’s Copper.
The TNT series was renewed for a second season halfway through its freshman season. Claws became the youngest-skewing drama series on TNT and became the highest-rated TNT series.
TNT’s EVP programming Sarah Aubrey said at the time of the renewal, “Look out, Manatee County, these ladies are coming back for more! These strong-willed, hilarious women represent the diverse voices this network is all about. Claws has certainly struck a chord with audiences and continues to attract new viewers each week.”
From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Claws follows five manicurists at a Florida salon at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County, who enter the traditionally male world of organized crime when they begin laundering money for a local pain clinic. The series stars Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, Judy Reyes, Karrueche Tran, and Jenn Lyon. It is executive produced by Rashida Jones, Will McCormack, showrunner Janine Sherman Barrois, and director Howard Deutch. Series creator Eliot Laurence serves as co-executive producer.
Claws has wrapped its breakout debut season back in August and is set to launch its 10-episode second season in 2018 with Potente now a part of the cast.
