Fox’s ‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Alum Frankie Muniz Shares How He Is Still In Contact With Old Co-Star Bryan Cranston

Frankie Muniz (The Rookie, Agent Cody Banks), star of Fox’s famous sitcom Malcolm In The Middle, has shared that he is still in contact with his old TV dad Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Argo), Deadline reports.

According to Deadline, in an interview on Michael Rosenbaum’s (Smallville, Teen TitansInside of You podcast, the Malcolm in the Middle star shared that his old co-star does check on him “every couple of weeks” after Cranston’s portrayal of Muniz’s fictional dad named Hal on the hit Fox sitcom.

“I started working with him when I was 11, 12 years old. He really became like a father figure to me,” Muniz explained via Deadline. “And then even still to this day, he’s essentially like a Hollywood god at this point. You know what I mean? He’s done incredible films, incredible shows, won tons of awards. He’s literally It.”

Muniz added via Deadline, “He still reaches out to me every couple of weeks, check in on me. He really cares about what I’m doing, comes to the races, if my band was playing, came to shows. I mean, he’s such an inspiration, and like I said, that’s what I strive to be that for someone else in the future.”

According to Deadline, the famous Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle focused on Muniz’s character, Malcolm. Malcolm is a genius, but his parents struggle to make ends meet and raise their family. His three trouble-making brothers don’t make his life any easier, so during the day, he makes videos of himself complaining about his life.

Furthermore, in January 2023, according to Deadline, Cranston shared the “possibility” of revival for the sitcom becoming real in an interview with E! News. “There was some talk about the possibility of doing, like, a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle,” he explained.

“We had such a great family on that,” he added via Deadline, “and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up — like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.’ I can’t believe it’s already that, but that would be fun to do.”

Malcolm In The Middle is available to stream on Hulu.
