Fox’s ‘Doc’ Becomes Top Series Debut in Five Years and Skyrockets Viewership

According to an exclusive article in Deadline Fox’s new medical drama Doc has delivered its best series debut in five years, attracting 15.6 million cross-platform viewers in its first 11 days. The show, which premiered January 7, saw a remarkable 609% increase over its live + same-day audience of 2.2 million, marking Fox’s highest debut since 9-1-1: Lone Star.

In its first week, Doc accumulated 1.1 million viewers on  not only Hulu but Fox.com, making it the network’s best streaming debut since The Floor last year. Deadline revealed that The Floor attracted 4.4 million cross-platform viewers in its first seven days, but Doc appears to be outpacing it overall. While delayed linear viewing is driving much of the show’s success, streaming likely boosted the 15.6 million total.

The strong performance is also evident in the second episode, which garnered 2.7 million viewers, a 13% increase over the premiere’s same-day audience. This growth signals the show’s potential to maintain its audience and possibly attract even more viewers as the season progresses.

Doc stars Molly Parker (Deadwood, House of Cards) as Dr. Amy Larsen, a brilliant but struggling Chief of Internal and Family Medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis. After suffering a brain injury that erases eight years of her life, she must relearn her career and rebuild relationships with estranged loved ones, including her 17-year-old daughter.

The series, based on the popular Italian drama Doc — Nelle tue mani, was co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios. Showrunner Barbie Kligman (Magnum P.I., Code Black) and executive producers Hank Steinberg (Without a Trace, The Last Ship), Judi McCreary (NCIS: New Orleans, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Erwin Stoff (Julia, Blue Eye Samurai) have helped bring the emotional and medically intense drama to life. Doc airs on Fox Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT and is available next day on Hulu.

With a powerful premise and strong early viewership, Doc has quickly made its mark, drawing attention from both traditional television audiences and streaming viewers. If the series continues to build on this momentum, it could become a staple of Fox’s primetime lineup.
