9-1-1 on Fox’s beloved firefighter Chimney, played by Kenneth Choi (The Wolf of Wall Street), is thinking about popping the question to Maddie (Jennifer Low Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer). But an exclusive sneak peek clip from FOX to Entertainment Weekly from Monday’s upcoming episode shows Chimney wondering if he is making the right decision.
With the option of proposing to Maddie coming into fruition, Chimney turns to his best friend, Hen (Aisha Hinds, Shots Fired), for advice. But he doesn’t love what he hears.
“I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that you actually feel this way or that you felt the need to tell me…. You’re supposed to be on my side.” Chim tells Hen in the clip. The uncertainty surrounding the engagement stems from when Maddie ran away from Chim and their newborn daughter for six months while Maddie was suffering from postpartum depression.
“It’s the indecision that worries me,” Hen tells him. “How can you expect me to be fully on board if you’re not even sure?” She also reminds him of how he felt when she left saying, “You blamed yourself when she was the one that left. She didn’t trust you enough to fully share what she was going through. Can you trust that she wont do it again?”
Chimney and Maddie both began thinking about getting engaged after issues with the IRS in this past week’s episode, “Death & Taxes” , in which their accountant advised them that if they got married and filed their taxes together it would solve some of their financial issues. 9-1-1 showrunner Kristen Reidel (American Horror Story) told Entertainment Weekly after that episode that the couple is “on the path” to an engagement, but not “necessarily a direct line. There might be a few twists and turns to come.”
