Fox’s 9-1-1 has released a first look teaser in regards to its upcoming Texas-set spinoff. The great Rob Lowe leads the upcoming series as Owen, formerly known as Mitch Grinder in the original series, 9-1-1: Reno. His son T.K., will be played by Ronen Rubinstein from Hulu’s Dead of Summer.
In 9-1-1: Lone Star, Owen is a “Manhattan firefighter who relocates to Austin to help rebuild a fractured firehouse— he is the only survivor of his former station during the Sept. 11 attacks. Despite projecting an image of big-city style and swagger, Lowe’s Owen struggles with a secret he hides from the world — one that could very well end his life.”
The cast also includes: Liv Tyler from HBO’s The Leftovers, Jim Parrack from HBO’s True Blood, Sierra McClain from FOX’s Empire, Natacha Karam NBC’s The Brave, Brian Michael Smith from Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q, Rafael Silva from CBS’ Madam Secretary and Julian Works from Showtime’s The Affair.
9-1-1 is procedural drama similar in vein to other prime-time series such as Grey’s Anatomy and was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear for Fox before the company sold off any of its entertainment properties. The original series follows the different lives of Los Angeles first responders whether it be the local police officers, paramedics, firefighters or dispatchers.
The series premiered in early 2018 and was described as a joint production between Reamworks, Ryan Murphy Television, and 20th Century Fox Television. The television series was part of a deal inked between Murphy and Fox, before the Indianapolis based director-writer-producer was poached by Netflix in record-breaking five-year deal that was estimated to be worth as much as $300 million. Now the multi-hyphenated artist, has been steadily creating content for Netflix’s digital library such as this year’s, The Politician.
