Fox has revealed that they are planning to create a single-camera sitcom titled It Takes Two, which will be heavily inspired by the recognizable Scott brothers of the HGTV show Property Brothers. On the renovation channel, the two brothers, Drew and Jonathan, work together to create the “perfect” home for families across the nation. This is done through a unique process, however, as Jonathan takes on the role of head contractor for the home that Drew is then in charge of selling through his realtor experience.
The Scott brothers are undoubtedly one of HGTV’s biggest hits, with the network even having spawned a variety of series from Property Brothers to share the popular duo with their fans more. Drew Scott was even selected to participate in Dancing with the Stars in one of the most recent seasons of the show, emphasizing the immense fame their work has led them to.
Fox’s series It Takes Two is not expected to follow the steps of the brothers detail by detail, but will instead seek inspiration from the success found by the pair. It is said that, like the Scotts, the show will center on two twin brothers, both of whom join together in real estate. Although Drew Scott is seemingly more involved on the realtor-side of things for the famous team, the show’s brothers may find themselves in more symmetrical positions within their business.
Jonathan and Drew Scott will executive produce the Fox series along with writers Josh and Jon Silberman, who together wrote for Living Biblically and an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
A release date for the sitcom has yet to be announced. However, you can read Jonathan and Drew Scott’s book It Takes Two: Our Story, to get a closer look at the story Fox is seeking inspiration from.
