Disney’s Fox 21 Television Studios has signed an all-new deal with one of the most sought-after TV writers. Deadline has reported that Dave Kajganich’s (The Terror, Blood Creek) new partnership with Fox will enable him to create, write, and produce series for all of Fox’s networks whether they be streaming or linear.
Bert Salke, President of Fox 21 Television and screenwriter behind films such as True Blue, spoke with Deadline about this new deal: “Dave Kajganich has been one of our favorite writers for some time now and one of the people we are most often asked about by the platforms around town. As soon as The Terror ended its first season, we began talks with Dave and his reps. We’re really excited about the shows that Dave is creating now, and even more so about his future at Fox 21 and Disney Television Studios.”
Kajganich was a feature film screenwriter before transitioning to television as the developer, executive producer, and showrunner of AMC Network’s The Terror. Kajganich explained his enthusiasm for the partnership to Deadline: “I’m charging into this deal full of ambition and ready to work very hard for Bert and Craig [Hunegs, president of Disney Television Studios]. The generous welcome I’ve received from Fox 21 has been fantastic and is so appreciated. I count myself lucky to have such a wickedly smart and supportive home team in television now. We’re already up to some pretty substantial mischief.”
The Terror is one of AMC’s most popular shows, debuting on March 25th, 2018 and has ran for two seasons. The series is a horror-thriller anthology, with each season taking place in entirely different settings and time periods. However, the series draws much of its horror from the strange and harsh environments the characters find themselves in. The Terror season 1 is an adaptation of Dan Simmons’ novel by the same name, and is the only season of the series so far to have Kajganich’s involvement.
